Rockin The Red: Caps Playoff Intro

The Washington Capitals have their playoff open posted, and it’s a pretty good one.

Two reasons that I really like this video.

New NHL Spot: Habs/Bruins

NHL with it’s second “about last night” commercial in two days.

This times it’s “History Stands Up To It’s Rivals” and features the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.

In second place was “History Never Learns” and was to feature the hit on Ian White, but this one won out instead.

Playoff Intro Video: Detroit Red Wings

Red Wings have a mix of a time lapse video and wide bowl shot from their playoff opener last night.

When I’ve been to the Joe for playoff games, they’ve always been very theatrical with the scoreboard (it kinda sucks) being almost secondary.  Looks like the trend continues here, andit looks similar to what we’ve seen in the past.

Would have liked to seen the scoreboard video though, maybe tomorrow they post it.

New NHL Spot w/Fleury: History Stops Everything

Gonna say this right now:  if the NHL is this fast with these spots all during the playoffs it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.   Great marketing isn’t just creative – it’s timely.  Nice that they knocked this out in under 24 hours and shows the true power of web video.

Wizards Do Away With Kiss-Cam On Visiting Team

Good read from Kyle Weidie of the The Washington City Paper about the Wizards getting away completely from putting members of the visiting team on Kiss Cam.

The article gets pretty deep and gives some interesting perspectives.

Woooo! University w/ Ric Flair

The most awesome 30 seconds of video that I’ve seen this week.

Just a great spot from start to finish. I’m not a wrestling fanatic by any means but Ric Flair is just one of those guys that transcends his profession. I still have memories of watching Gordon Solie hosting Georgia Championship Wrestling on TBS when I was a kid.

North Carolina has Ric Flair, and we in Pennsylvania have…..Gus. :(

Ovechkin Capital One Spot. Ouch.

Stick tap to @scudly for the heads up. Reminds me of the Bird/Jordan commercials. Or the Tiger Woods one. Or something.

Sure to be popular with Caps fans for the big penguin payoff.

Canucks Fan Video Set To Love Boat Theme

Caps Rap 2 Guy - you have been knocked off the top of the hill and absolved of your sins.

Here’s a Canucks playoff video by one of their fans set to the music of  The Love Boat.

Mesmerizing.

P.S. It’s awesome that the Canucks put these videos on their website.

Final Cut Pro X announced at NAB

from Adam N @fcpsupermeet

Apple just announced that Final Cut Pro is getting a “rebuilt from the ground up, new release”.

64-bit. Background rendering.  Some nifty metadata features.  And my favorite so far, from the live blog at Photography Bay.

10:24: Magnetic timeline.  If you slide a clip down the timeline, long clips (i.e., secondary audio) won’t collide with other clips. The other clips will drop down to a new drag and nothing is pushed out of sync.

And the crowd goes wild.  My #1 annoyance of old FCP.

No release date yet, but there will be one billion articles on this by tomorrow AM, I’m sure.

Really debated going to NAB this year, but needed to buy a camera rig instead.  Would have been fun to be there, though.

    UPDATE

$299. Out in June. I love you already and haven’t even met you yet.
